This is a chance to pick up both Phase I and Phase II of our wilderness survival classes on the same day. These classes will be held at the at the University of Arkansas-Batesville in Batesville, Arkansas. You will need to register and sign up for the class with the University in Batesville, Arkansas (870-612-2082). You can welcome to take a individual phase of the class, or take both phases of the class. Each phase will cost $32.00.
The morning session, which will be 4 hours is phase I of our survival training and will cover the basics of outdoor survival, which includes instruction on preparing a survival kit, the psychology of survival, shelter, water, fire, and preparation for rescue. The class will consist of both classroom and field exercises with practical examinations in fire starting, water filtration and shelter construction. Each student will need a steel striker, or magnesium fire striker, 2 bandanas and a water bottle or cup.
The afternoon session will be 4 hours and will be our Intermediate Survival Class, which is the second phase of our survival training and will include an overview of the Basic Survival Class followed by training in Wilderness First-Aid, Orienteering, collecting wild edibles, the use of snares, dead falls, fish traps and surviving harsh weather environments. This class will consist of both classroom instruction and practical exercises. Each student will need a pocket knife and approximately 3 feet of string for this portion of the class.
