The Leatherwood Wilderness Area is one of the largest continuous forests in the eastern United States and is an amazingly beautiful, wild and rugged place. There are no maintained trails in this vast area, but there are a few horse trails that we will use from time to time along with bushwhack hiking through the area. We will explore numerous waterfalls, bluff lines and streams along the way, but due to the rough and rugged terrain physical fitness is important. We will backpack on Saturday, camp out Saturday night, explore a bit on Sunday before heading home late Sunday afternoon.
We will meet at the Casey’s at U.S. 65 and Mo. 14 in Ozark, Missouri on Saturday morning at 0700 hours. For those of you in Arkansas or other areas, you can also meet us somewhere around Fifty-Six Arkansas, just email us to set up a time and place.
