UPDATE: October 10, 2016: This trip will be lead by Nancy Probsfeld and will be a bit less strenuous than normal as there will not be quite as much bushwhacking into some very rigorous areas. That being said, a large portion will still be off trail and fitness will still be important.
This is our traditional trip to kick off the backpacking season. This trip will consist of a 2 day backpacking trip into the Richand Creek Wilderness Area. We will start from the Richland Creek Campground and hike the non-maintained trail up to Richland Falls and enjoy the views of the creek and the waterfall itself. This is where most people stop and head back, but we will begin a bushwhack further into the Richland Creek Wilderness Area and explore some new areas. We will navigate the entire trip, but there are some large hills with steep and rugged terrain to navigate, hence fitness is important.
You can still meet at the Casey’s in Ozark, Missouri on the 5th at 0700 hours and carpool from there. Nancy will meet everyone at the convenience store in Jasper, Arkansas at 0815-0820. You can also meet the group at the Richland Creek Campground at 0930-0945. We will being the hike at 1000 hours.
