SUMMARY:Mt. Pisco-Peru
DESCRIPTION:Mount Pisco at 5,752 meters, (18,897 feet), is probably one of the best preparation climbing expeditions before attempting to climb higher mountains in the Cordillera Blanca or Cordillera Huayhuash.  Mount Pisco, while beautiful, is a fairly straight forward climb, without exposing the climber to difficult and technical climbing, thus allowing novice climbers with the opportunity to be exposed to a great experience on a big beautiful mountain. With several other taller more technical peaks close by, Pisco is commonly used as a preparation and acclimation climb for larger nearby peaks.

SUMMARY:Laugavegurinn Trail-Iceland
DESCRIPTION:The highlight of any Iceland trip is the backpacking trip along the”Laugavegurinn”, or “The Hot Spring Route”.  The trail “Laugavegurinn” is one of the most popular backpacking trails in the Icelandic wilderness and the world.  This trail is equally popular with domestic and foreign hikers and this popularity is not without a reason, as the trail offers a great variety of landscapes, ranging from mountains in almost every color of the rainbow, glaciers, roaring hot springs, waterfalls, big rivers, and even glacier lakes.  The “Langavegurinn” does not disappoint and continually lives up to all our expectations.  We have always been left speechless from the color, mystique, and rugged beauty of Iceland.

SUMMARY:Sylamore Creek Hike
DESCRIPTION:This is one of my favorite little hikes, as it is full of great views, rock formations and waterfalls, plus the creek itself makes for great viewing.  This hike can be done as a long dayhike, but a better choice is to make it a 2 day trip and cover the entire 14 miles from Allison to Gunner's Pool and Barkshed.  Not a difficult hike, so a perfect hike for beginning backpackers.

SUMMARY:Leatherwood Wilderness Exploration
DESCRIPTION:This is going to be an exploration weekend into one of the most wild and rugged areas in Arkansas, the Leatherwood Wilderness.  This trip will consist of some bushwacking, scrambling, carrying a full pack and some compass work.  Physical conditioning and the abilty to adapt to the wilderness will be important.  There are very little trails in this area, so each person will need to feel comfortable hiking in rough terrain and camping in a wild area.  You however, will be rewarded with a wild and rugged area, full of vistas, rock bluffs, waterfalls and wildlife.

SUMMARY:Leatherwood Wilderness Area
DESCRIPTION:The Leatherwood Wilderness is part of the largest continuous forest in the eastern United States and is truely a wild and rugged area.  There is only 1 maintained trail in the entire wilderness area, the rest of the time requires you to follow old logging roads and to bushwack, but this area is also a mecca for unspoiled mountains, waterfalls and has one of the largest bear population in Arkansas.  This hike will take us from the Old Fire Tower, over logging roads toward Push Mountain, past several great blufflines and waterfalls and down to the  Buffalo River and several smaller streams.  This hike will not be easy due to the terrain and lack of trails, but is truely an outdoor mecca.

SUMMARY:3rd Annual Richland Creek Halloween Hike
DESCRIPTION:We will be hiking in the Richland Creek Wilderness, from the old Richland Campground to the Twin Falls and Richland Falls.   For the day hikers, you can hike with us up to Twin Falls and Richland Falls and then backtrack back to the vehicles.  There is no maintained trail, but I am going to mark the trail for you with ribbon, so it will be easy to find your way back. The trail we will take will wind along Richland Creek, up a huge canyon, but no big hills for you to climb.  The area is rugged and wild and full of deer, elk, bears, wild hogs, coyotes etc.   The trail is not maintained, so at times we will cross logs, rocks, trees and the terrain will be uneven, muddy at times and there will be 3 water crossings, with one being to the middle of your theigh for sure.   Bring some shoes to cross the creek, some extra socks, small hand towel and wear something under your trousers to cross the creek.   I promise, it will be worth it!!!  If you want to be in the outdoors and the wilderness and see an area of the Ozarks that will remind you of Colorado or Idaho, this is the hike to take.  Total length for the dayhikers will be about 7 miles in and out for the overnighters, about 10 miles.  I guarantee you will love this hike, you just have to go with us.

SUMMARY:The Stacks
DESCRIPTION:We are going to hike on the Ozark Highland Trail from Richland Creek toward The Stacks.  A couple miles east on the trail, we will reach a large bend in the creek, at which point the over night hikers will leave their packs, as we will set up camp here and use this as a base camp.  From here, everyone can continue to hike along and explore along the Ozark Highland Trail down to the Stacks, which is a large area of Pedestal Rocks sticking straight up out of the ground.  From the base camp area, there is also a side trail that will take us up a large mountain, but once at the top, there is a fantastic view of the Richland Valley and is worth the climb.  When the day hikers are done exploring, they can hike back to the vehicles, while the others will spend the night and hike out early Sunday morning.
