Leatherwood Wilderness Area

The Leatherwood Wilderness Area is one of the largest continuous forests in the eastern United States and is an amazingly beautiful, wild and rugged place.  There are no maintained trails in this vast area, but there are a few horse trails that we will use from time to time along with bushwhack hiking through the area.  We will explore numerous waterfalls, bluff lines and streams along the way, but due to the rough and rugged terrain physical fitness is important. …

This is our annual fitness hike and was originally set up helping our friends to test their fitness level for mountaineering trips and expeditions, but has evolved into a fun way to test your overall fitness and have a great time in the outdoors. This is a new event which will be a camp out at the Haw Creek Falls Campground located on Arkansas 123, 14 miles west of Pelsor, Arkansas.  Each morning we are going to road cycle through the mountains of the Ozark National Forest and you can choose to ride from 30-50 miles per day.  These rides will vary from rising from Haw Creek Campground to near Pedestal Rocks and back to riding from Haw Creek to Hagerville and Bullfrog.  The…
