Busiek State Forest Trails

The Busiek State Forest is a Missouri Department of Conservation area that contains, hiking and mountain bike trails, horse trails, a camping area and an outdoor shooting range. The forest consists of 14 miles of hiking trails in three levels of difficulty ranging easy to moderate.  The trails are all marked in different colors depending on difficulty.

The highlight of the trails is probably the nice creek that runs through the area, providing creek crossings, clear water and some nice swimming pools.  The trails run through several valleys along the creek, climb up some hills and even pass a cemetary full of early 1900 grave sites.  The trails are wide, but at times a bit rough as there are certain trails that are shared with both mountain bikes and horses.  Overall, a great area to get out for some day hiking or a place to take the kids.
