DO ONLY OTHERS GET LOST ...
OR COULD IT BE YOU?
EMERGENCIES HAPPEN TO EVERYONE
Join Hiking the Ozarks Founder, Dan Nash, to learn essential navigation skills suitable for anyone who spends time in the outdoors.
YOU COULD RELY ON GPS ...
... except that when you get lost you don't always have any reception. So you're screwed. Besides, what if it breaks? And what happens if others are relying on you to get you from place A to B safely?
YOU COULD RELY ON YOUR HIKING BUDDY ...
YOU DON'T WANT TO BE A STATISTIC ...
TOO MANY TRAGEDIES OCCUR THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE BE PREVENTED.
You may recall some years ago an experienced hiker took his young children for a hike ... and got lost. As can happen here in the Ozarks, the temperature dropped significantly and the father and both sons tragically lost their lives.
It was a heartbreaking story and, while we can't ever know if navigation skills could have saved them, surely they could have helped. We just never know ... and that's why we all need to have the skills that can help keep us safe.
Find empowerment by improving your navigation skills and take your outdoor skills to the next level.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. DOOR REGISTRATION IS NOT AVAILABLE. ALL ACCESS PASS HOLDERS ARE GUARANTEED ADMISSION.

LAND NAVIGATION - SEPTEMBER 24, 2022
9 AM - 5 PM (CHADWICK, MO)
ONLY 25 SPOTS AVAILABLE AND THIS CLASS SELLS OUT!
... except what if your hiking buddy is thinking the same thing you are ... and neither of you know what you're doing? What if your kid or your spouse is relying on YOU to get them from A to B?
... and even though no one thinks it will happen to them, every year there's an accident resulting in death from some outdoor activity. Saddest of all, they're often preventable.
Land Navigation is a ONE-OF-A-KIND class taught by Dan Nash, one of the best instructors in the Midwest - if not the country. He has been teaching outdoor enthusiasts how to empower themselves in the outdoors for over 13 years.
Dan founded Hiking the Ozarks in 2007 and grew up exploring the Ozark Mountains; its thousands of miles of beautiful and rugged terrain was the playground his father introduced to him and his brothers. He has led expeditions, backpacked, hiked and rock climbed in 14 countries.
As President of Hiking the Ozarks, Dan coordinates and leads the company's various education and guiding programs. He has tested and reviewed gear for dozens of companies and provided hundreds of written and video gear reviews for major publications.
Dan is also the Founder & President of Satori Adventures & Expeditions, an international guiding and mountaineering company with affiliates in Nepal and South America, which provides dozens of hiking, backpacking and mountaineering expeditions in over 20 countries. Satori, based right here in Southwest Missouri, is the only company that we know of that operates on all 8,000 meter peak mountains around the world.
Empower Yourself In The Outdoors
No. We feel the value of these potentially life-saving skills delivered in this all-day class is well worth the relatively low cost. Children of many ages have attended this event and had a great time, although you are the best judge of your child's capacity for this material. Navigation can be a challenge, but that is why we have the afternoon session to help implement skills learned in the classroom.
SEPTEMBER 24, 2022
9 AM - 5 PM
The morning session will be a lecture discussion to review material that you will then put to the test in a variety of practical exercises to implement the expertise you developed during the morning session. You will be on private land in Chadwick, MO (you will receive exact location upon registration) and we will have a lunch break.
EACH STUDENT SHOULD BRING:
Orienteering compass, topographical map if you have one, water, lunch and snacks (or you may run up to a nearby convenience store for a sandwich), materials for taking notes, and weather-appropriate clothing for the afternoon session.
IS THERE A DISCOUNT FOR FAMILIES OR CHILDREN?
There are no refunds and, while you can choose to attend all or a portion of the class, the fee is a one-time flat fee. If you register and cannot attend class for any reason, YOU WILL NOT BE GRANTED A REFUND.
ARE THERE ANY REFUNDS, OR CAN I PAY FOR A PORTION OF THE CLASS?
ALL CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 17 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR GUARDIAN FOR THE FULL DURATION OF THE CLASS. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS. But otherwise children are most welcome assuming you judge the experience suitable to them.
CAN I SEND MY CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF 17?
We do not cancel the event for weather conditions, OTHER THAN if we, in our sole discretion, deem it unsafe for people to attend the class in extreme weather. In that event, all registered students will receive a full and prompt refund. Cold or rainy weather is in fact an excellent circumstance in which to practice the skills you will be learning. We believe in you!
WILL THE CLASS BE HELD IF THE WEATHER IS COLD OR RAINY?
Bring along an orienteering compass and a topographic map if you have one, water and food to keep you happy during the day (although you may choose to run out for a quick lunch during the lunch break), materials for taking notes, AND appropriate clothing for the afternoon session which will be outdoors, rain or shine.
